Why are you a Republican?
I am a Republican because I believe in less government
and lower taxes. I believe that the Republican Party
stands for making it on your own without the
assistance of government. Anyone from any ethnic
background or economic scale will/can be afforded the
"American Dream" by hard work and self determination.
This is what I feel the Republican Party represents.
Why are you a member of ALRA?
I am a member of ALRA because I feel it is about time
the eyes of the Hispanic people are opened to the
hypocrisies of the Democratic Party and the
denigrations they impose upon Hispanics and other
minorities. I hope to help Hispanics realize that the
Republican Party is not the party of the rich, but
rather a party that focuses on improving the self
reliance of the individual.
Comments:
I come from a long line of Democrats("Kennedy
Democrats"). Kennedy was the only Democratic president
who believed in lower taxes, a smaller government, and
strong defense. He also believed that the color of
your skin in no way should prohibit you from affording
the "American Dream". He was also a Roman Catholic
which, I believe, led Hispanics to trust in him and
trust in the party, but the Democratic Party did not
continue on his focus of government. The Hispanic
people then continued to simply believe and do still
believe that today's Democratic Party is still the
same "Kennedy" party.
I do not believe that Hispanics are by any means
"sheep", but I do feel that they have not fully
researched the ideals of the current Democratic Party.
